Parents and Carers

Most parents and carers are keen to support their children’s mathematical progress but many struggle with how best to help them; in some cases the approach has changed over the years and for many others, their own school experience of mathematics was not positive!

Mathematics is a very linear subject with new topics dependent on good knowledge and understanding of the skills needed prior to starting on the new topic. We have developed a range of support for learners from Reception level up to and including A-Level.

Much of this support, for example that for Years 3 to 6 (Key Stage 2) in the Primary phase of education and Years 7 to 9 (Key Stage 3) in the lower part of Secondary phase of education, includes “interactive” versions of our comprehensive resources. For the interactive questions, if you submit a wrong answer, you can either try again or obtain a model answer. It is important though to check whether you are ready for these questions and have mastered the concepts needed.

We hope this approach will help you to become confident with the concepts and reinforce your previous skills and knowledge in mathematics.
